Father Quarks of Murray Gell-Mann Dead at 89
American Particle physicist Murray Gell-Mann died on 24 May, aged 89.He was one of the founders of modern particle physics. Gell-Mann was born in 1929 in New York City and spend most of his work life at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
In 1969 Gell-Mann received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his ground breaking work on particle physics and for the discovery of “quarks”.
